Anna Lou Hooten Smith passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. She was born in Browning Rockfield, KY to the late James "J.Z." Zeb Hooten and Maggie Cox Hooten. She was the ex-wife of Charles "C.E," Edward Smith.
She was preceded in death by her son Darryl Wayne Neighbors, 4 sisters: Dorothy Hooten, Frances Sanders, Edna Bell, Ruth Brown. and 3 brothers: Henry Hooten, Bill Hooten, and James Hooten.
She is survived by her daughter LouAnn "Maggie" Plank (John Phillip Plank) of Bowling Green, KY, a granddaughter Suzanna Van of Hayesville, NC, 2 great-grandkids Dylan Van and Kelly Van, both of Hayesville, NC, Daughter-in-Law Christy Neighbors Ringenberg of Murphy, NC, and a brother, Howard "Bub" Hooten of Bowling Green, KY.
She was a janitor at Cumberland Trace School from 1981-82, Warren Central High School from 1982-83, and Warren Elementary School from 1983-84.
Funeral Services will be held at Cone Funeral Home on Campbell Lane, across from Aldi, and burial at Cedar Bluff Cemetery in Browning Rockfield, KY. Bro. Bray will be preaching the service. The family asks that all flowers be sent directly to Cone Funeral Home.
