Arvilla Ann Beckham Cherry was born on her grandfather's farm in Warren County, KY on February 9, 1943. She was the daughter of Paul and Ora Hendrick Beckham, the only child born to them. She was the widow of Billy Ray Cherry whom she married on October 5, 1991. As a child raised on a farm in Warren County, KY, she enjoyed her farm life and ways. She was saved at Martinsville Baptist Church at age 7 and baptized in Barren River. Arvilla had also been a member of Hillview at Hadley and Forest Park Baptist Church over the years. Forest Park was where she and Billy attended for several years and did many things while there. Arvilla quit school at age 16, went back to school after being out for 36 years, and graduated with cap and gown in 1995 at the old Bowling Green High on Center Street. Her parents, father-in-law, three of her step-children and two of her step-grandchildren were present. Arvilla had several jobs in her life - a waitress, food server in City and County Schools, Western Kentucky University, and the Warren County Regional Jail as a Kitchen Deputy. She also worked in a drugstore, as a screen er, a welder at American Valve in Indianapolis, IN and for 33 years at Union Underwear / Fruit of the Loom. Arvilla enjoyed family and family history her whole life. She loved her step-children, Pam Hurt and her husband Billy, Belinda Coulter and her husband Ricky, Steve Cherry and his wife Gretchen, and Melissa Johnson and her husband Chris. Step grandchildren include Andy and Ben Hurt; Emily Coulter; Ashley, Nathan and Alexis Cherry; and Jacob and Lucas Johnson.
