Barbara Seeger passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 at Bridgepoint Memory Care.
Barbara was born on March 2, 1938 in College Park, MD to Rush Byron Ashley and Dorothy Mae Jackman Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joseph and Byron Ashley, husband Dr. Ronald Seeger, niece Jennifer Ashley Hakim, and granddaughter Stephanie Collins.
She is survived by her longtime companion Dr. Raymond Cravens, daughters Leslie Seeger Collins and Julie Seeger Ozier (Andrew), grandson Casey Collins and granddaughter Kelly Ann Ozier.
Barbara graduated from High Point High School in Greenbelt, MD in 1956. She began working as a secretary, later working in the White House secretarial pool until her marriage in 1961, when she became a full-time homemaker and typed her husband's dissertation.
Barbara enjoyed tennis, bridge, sewing for her daughters and refinishing furniture.
She returned to work part-time in 1975 at Warren Elementary School as a cafeteria cashier. Later, she worked in Western Kentucky University in the English department until her retirement.
At that time, she enjoyed antiquing, travel, symphony concerts at SKYPAC, and WKU football and basketball with Dr. Cravens and a close circle of friends.
Barbara will be cremated at Cone Funeral Home with internment at Arlington National Cemetery next to her husband at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made through donations to St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project
