His career as a truck driver and owner operator spanned many decades, in which he drove through every contiguous US state several times over. His career highlights included driving and touring with Broadway shows, including touring with Cab Calloway’s show Bubbling Brown Sugar, and the musical, Chicago. His children, Brenda, Dennis, and Sharon, tracked his travels through the postcards and the matchbooks he collected from his many stops across the country. Upon his marriage to Mary Jane Mortfolio in 1981, they relocated to nearby Ghent, NY, where they lived until 2019 when they moved to Bowling Green, KY to be closer to his daughter and cared for at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehab. Carl and Mary Jane celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in November of 2020, one month prior to Mary Jane’s passing. Carl loved cookies, luxury cars, and well-done steaks, always had a sparkle in his blue eyes and loved to tease his wife, his family, and his nurses. He will be missed.
