Darrell Dell Napier, Sr., 81, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away on August 5th, surrounded by loved ones.

Born near Puncheon Creek in Allen County, Kentucky, to Velma and Cordell Napier, Darrell was five when his family moved to Warren County, where he would spend the rest of his life building deep roots and lasting friendships.

A member of Three Springs Baptist Church, Darrell was a proud graduate of Bowling Green High School, Class of 1963; he also attended Western Kentucky University. He started his career working at the Ben Franklin Store and Western Realty before finding his lifelong profession: real estate appraisal. In 1984, he co-founded Murphy, Napier & Co., Real Estate Appraisers, with Gary R. Murphy, where he worked until his retirement in 2023. Darrell truly loved his work and often said how much he looked forward to going to work each day, a testament to how deeply he valued purpose, people, and doing things well.

In his younger years, Darrell enjoyed Enduro motorcycle racing and boating at Barren River Lake, passions that reflected his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. He also enjoyed hunting with his son and son-in-law, a tradition that created many treasured memories. Darrell was a passionate golfer, a devoted BGHS Purples football fan, and a loyal University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball supporter.

Darrell was especially blessed with lifelong friendships. He remained close with many friends from high school—a rare and meaningful gift that spoke to his loyalty and the deep bonds he formed with others. Known for his quick wit and storytelling, Darrell had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. His humor, warmth, and genuine love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Above all, Darrell adored his grandchildren. He loved being “Gdaddy” and took great pride in every moment he spent with them. One of his greatest joys was attending their sporting events to cheer them on.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Corbin Napier, Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Napier; his children, Littia (Brent) Wimpee, Dale (Jennifer) Napier, and Brooke Graham; his sisters, Carol (Willie) Carter, Joan Lyons, and Nancy (Jackie) Strode; his cherished grandchildren, Seth (Sophia), Sam, Jake, Ty, and Ella Cate; and a beloved aunt, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Darrell will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to share in his life. His legacy of love, laughter, hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Please join the family in celebrating the life of Darrell on Saturday, August 29, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Indian Hills Country Club to share stories and laughter in his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
