Brownsville

David Lee Elwood Roberts, lovingly known as "Lil Elwood," was born on January 13, 2025, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With immense sadness, we share that he passed away on June 2, 2025, at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Though his time with us was all too brief, he touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.

Lil Elwood was as full of life as God could make a baby. His radiant smile, especially reserved for his maternal front figures, Pop Pop and Gigi, will forever be etched in the memories of those who had the privilege to know him. This precious little boy brought joy and light into the lives of his family, even during the challenges of his short journey. It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on how he might have grown into an active little boy; yet, we find comfort in our faith, believing that Jesus embraced him and welcomed him into a place where he is enveloped in unmatched love.

Special recognition must be given to the nurses at Vanderbilt PICU who cared for and loved Lil Elwood during his final 34 days of life. Their compassion and dedication provided such warmth during a time of profound difficulty for his family.

Lil Elwood is survived by his devoted mother, Brianna Cash of Brownsville, and his father, Dustin Roberts of Tompkinsville. He is also cherished by his maternal grandparents, Chris and Becky Cash of Brownsville, and his paternal grandparents, Judith Roberts of Tompkinsville, and Charles Roberts of Glasgow. He leaves behind siblings Cash and Lilly Elmore, both of Brownsville, and a special friend, Michael (Mikey) Johnson. Lil Elwood is proceeded in death by his sibling Cayne Elmore.

Lil Elwood will be eternally missed but lovingly remembered for the joy he brought to our lives during his time with us. The family finds peace in knowing that they will reunite with him one day. Though he has left this world too soon, his spirit will forever shine bright in the hearts of those who loved him.
