Tinker dedicated 33 years of his life to General Motors, where he was a valued employee until his retirement in 2006. His commitment to his work was mirrored by his devotion to his family, which brought him immense joy and happiness throughout his life. In every moment spent with his loved ones, Tinker found purpose and fulfillment.

A proud veteran, he served in the Army, reflecting his deep sense of duty and service to his country. Tinker was well-known for his lively personality, deeply appreciating the beauty of nature through sunrises, sunsets, and stars. He had a special affinity for the color purple and was a passionate fan of LSU sports, sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family alike.

Tinker’s nurturing spirit extended beyond his personal life, as he was a dedicated baseball and softball coach to many children, imparting not only skills but also life lessons that would resonate with them for years to come. He adored animals and leaves behind two very special dogs, Coco and Bandit, who were a source of companionship and joy in his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, LeeAnn Koehler Darling, whom he married on August 21, 1999. Tinker will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Phyllis Scurria and Liz Gross, both from Rayville, LA. His cherished children include Damion Darling (Angel), Damitra Darling, and Amy Riley, all hailing from Rayville, LA; Durand "Cooter" Darling (Shawnda) from Blaine, MN; and Kayleigh Anderson (Carter) from Bowling Green, KY. He took great pride in his role as a father and cherished the time spent with his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
