Elaine Mathis

Mrs. Elaine C. Mathis, age 88, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted Monday, September 18, 2023, at 4:00pm at Cone Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until the time of service at 4:00pm. Mrs. Mathis will be laid to rest on Tuesday September 19, 2023, at 12:30pm beside her husband at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central in Radcliff KY. Elaine was born November 20, 1934, to the late Chester Ray Taylor and the late Mary Liza Taylor. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Willard C. Mathis, a son, Gary Mathis, and a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Mathis. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Mathis Martin (Tony) of Cottage Grove, OR; daughter-in-law, Linda Mathis of La Grange, KY; grandson, Neal Mathis (Ashley) of Bowling Green, KY; three great-grandchildren, Molly Mathis, Max Mathis, and Maggie Mathis; two sisters, Sharon Kimmel of Morgantown, KY and Sandra Woosley (Rick) of Caneyville, KY. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Elaine was a member of Valley Station Church of Christ in Louisville, KY. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved quilting and crocheting and making things to donate to children. She was happily married for 63 Years to Willard C. Mathis. Together they made things for craft shows and travelled to many places to be a part of them. Elaine loved her family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a wonderful cook and known to make the best fried apple pies around.
