Elizabeth Rego
Barry
Oct 21, 1942 — Sep 27, 2026
Adolphus, KY
Elizabeth R. “Mommy” Barry, 83, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at her home, where she was surrounded by the love of her daughter and passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born on October 21, 1942, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to the late Iris Rego and Frank Rego.
Elizabeth was a woman who found purpose in caring for others, both two-legged and four-legged. She worked as a dairy farmer and had a lifelong love of horses. In her younger years, she enjoyed equestrian dressage, a passion that brought her great joy and reflected her love and respect for animals.
After retirement, Elizabeth found a new calling. She devoted herself to rescuing abandoned and injured cats, giving countless animals a second chance at life. Saving the kitties became her mission, and she spent her later years caring for, protecting, and finding homes for those who needed her most. Her compassion for animals was one of the many things that made her so special.
Elizabeth also cherished her faith and enjoyed worshipping Jesus. In her quiet moments, she could often be found working crossword puzzles, reading, or enjoying her beloved cat and cow decorations. She had a warm heart, a determined spirit, and a deep capacity for love that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Thomas Mautino (Tina), Amber Lyn Salinas, Timothy Leavitt, and Terri Hamilton (Mike); her grandchildren, Carmen Duch, Lorenzo Vazquez, Zaquari Salinas, Lucas Torres, and Anya Webb; and her many great-grandchildren, too numerous to count.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Iris Rego and Frank Rego.
Elizabeth’s legacy will live on in the family she loved, the animals she rescued, the faith she cherished, and the countless lives she touched along the way. For the many kitties she saved, she was a protector. For her family, she was Mommy. And for everyone who knew her, she was someone whose love left a lasting mark.
