Born on October 1, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ellen was a beacon of light for those who knew her.
Ellen’s professional journey began with many devoted years at Fruit of the Loom, where her hard work and dedication were evident. She later contributed her talents and compassion at LifeSkills. Always one to seek knowledge and growth, Ellen returned to school multiple times, obtaining her associate’s degree in administrative assistance, followed by a degree in medical assistance. Her pursuit of education was not just for herself; she ignited that same passion in her son, Chris, encouraging him to embrace learning and strive for excellence.
Ellen's faith was the cornerstone of her life. A lifelong Christian, she stood strong in her devotion to the Lord and found profound strength through her faith. Her unwavering commitment to her beliefs was matched only by her deep love for her family. Married on November 2, 1979, to her cherished husband, Larry Ray Bratcher, Ellen’s relationship with him was marked by mutual respect and love, forming a partnership that weathered the tests of time.
She is remembered fondly as a mother, leaving behind not only her son, Chris Bratcher (Tatum), but also her beloved grandson, Carter, and step-granddaughter, Madison. Ellen took immense pride in her family, every moment spent together, and every memory created.
Ellen had several siblings, surrounded by love and support from her sisters, Brenda Lindsey, Lisa Cook (Sherman), Linda McElfresh (John), Trease Moon, and Cherry Moon (Felix), as well as her brother, Derrick Moon (Tanya). Together they shared laughter, challenges, and countless memories that fortified their bond.
Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Margie Moon, and her brother, Ernest Moon Jr., both of whom played vital roles in shaping her character and heart. Their memories will forever live on in the stories shared among her family and friends.
