Gary Lynn Slaughter, age 74, was born in Jeffersonville Indiana on April 17, 1952, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 20, 2026.

Gary was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Renda Slaughter, building a life centered on love, commitment, and family.

Gary was a dedicated and hardworking man who retired after 43 years of service with International Paper/Weyerhaeuser Company. He took great pride in his work and in providing for those he loved.

He leaves behind his children, Nelson Slaughter (Jill), and Teresa Morel(Josh). He was a proud grandfather to Derrick Slaughter and wife Sabrina, Seth Slaughter and wife Kora, Kayla Morel, and Zack Morel. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Leah Brooke Slaughter and Lucas James Slaughter, who brought him much happiness.

Gary was the son of Ray and Joyce Slaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson, Sutton and his brother, Alan Slaughter.

He is also survived by his sisters, Patsy Weaver (Joe), Pam Jones (Tony), and Paula Gorham, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Gary will be remembered for his love of family, his steady presence, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the family he treasured so dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lifepoint Baptist Church on April 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., concluding with a short service led by Rev. Wilbur Powell.
