Glenn Jon Heil

November 4, 1937 — May 14, 2025

Glenn Jon Heil, 87, passed away on May 14, 2025 at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Glenn was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on November 4, 1937 to the late Glen and Olive Heil. He had one brother, Richard Heil (deceased).

Glenn graduated from Adelphian Academy in Holly, Michigan in 1955 and went on to attend Emmanuel Missionary College (Andrews University) in Berrien Springs, Michigan. On June 8, 1958 he married his wife, Carol N. Zelenak, in Detroit, Michigan. They made their home first in Pontiac, Michigan and later in Lake Orion, where they were active members of the Lake Orion Seventh-day Adventist Church for 30 years. There Glenn helped to build a new church building and supported the mission of the church. Together they raised five children, Heather (Bob) Thomas, Glenn (Kyunghee) Heil (Deceased), Christine (Steve) Voigt, Jennifer (Robert) Rabon, and Andrea Joy Heil (Deceased). They loved and nurtured five grandchildren, Melissa Quast, Matthew Quast (Deceased), Richard Doster, Glen E. (Claire) Heil, and Andrea Grace Rabon. He also had three great grandchildren, Tristan, Hailey, and Chloe.

Glenn became a registered land surveyor in Michigan in 1971 and worked as a land surveyor in Oakland County, owning his own surveying company there for many years until he “retired” so that he could go on to become a licensed pastor for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He pastored in the Troy Seventh-day Adventist Church in Troy, Michigan until 2005. In 2005, Glenn “retired” again and moved with Carol to Bowling Green,Kentucky. There he found himself stepping in once more to pastor the Sandhill Seventh-day Adventist Church. While there he traveled all over Kentucky to speak in churches whenever he was called upon until his final retirement in 2018. Glenn was an avid reader and a student of the Bible - his collection of Bible versions took up many of the bookshelves in his large personal library. He wrote more than a thousand Bible studies to aid others in understanding God’s word and shared them freely. He was a part of a Jail Ministry in Lapeer County and traveled to work with men in prison wherever there was a need. Glenn made a point of introducing his children and grandchildren to new places around the United States, sometimes packing up his grandchildren on his own for journeys and experiences all over the country. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and good conversation. In every place he found himself, Glenn used his wisdom and influence to bless others and to build up those around him. He faithfully served his God and his church all his life and now rests in peace, awaiting the return of his Lord and Savior.

The family plans to hold a memorial service in the future. If you would like to honor Glenn’s memory in some way, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104 www.hospicesoky.org
