Gloria Medalla Dela Vega Javier, lovingly known as “Lola,” passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, family, creativity, and service. She was born on March 24, 1945, in Samar, Leyte, Philippines, to the late Pacencia Medalla and Simon Dela Vega.

Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Romeo A. Javier Sr., whom she married in Manila, Philippines, on April 9, 1973. Their marriage was blessed with 10 years together before his passing.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Pacencia Medalla and Simon Dela Vega; her siblings, Yolanda Solis and Tulen Dela Vega; her beloved son, Jun-Jun Javier; and her husband, Romeo A. Javier Sr.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Jaime Dela Vega and Monique Dela Vega; her children, Cristina Fridy (Roy Fridy), Gemma Webb (Michael Webb), Romeo Javier Jr (Charish Javier), (GloryFe Esguerra) and Christopher Allan Javier (Rose Javier) (Bambi Barbieto); and her 13 grandchildren, Carren, Crisette, Nickvan, Micah, Taryn, Christian, Krisha, Gaddiel, Germaine, Glestine, Axel, Snow, and Sky. She also leaves behind five precious great-grandchildren, Christine, Serena, Cassius, Gavione, and Cayden, who brought great joy to her life.

Though Gloria’s formal education ended with elementary school, her talents, determination, and creativity carried her far beyond the classroom. She became a remarkably skilled seamstress, dressmaker, designer, and master cutter. Throughout her life, she had the privilege of working for a Royal Princess, Nouf, creating and designing garments with the exceptional skill and care for which she was known.

Her talents took her around the world, allowing her to travel and experience places and cultures beyond her homeland. Through her work and travels, Gloria created a life filled with remarkable experiences and memories that she shared with those around her.

Gloria found great joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved praying, sewing garments, cooking, arts and crafts, watching Filipino shows, reading, writing, and ministering to her friends and family. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she expressed her love for others through prayer, encouragement, acts of kindness, and the time she devoted to those she cared for.

To her family, she was more than a mother or grandmother; she was “Lola,” a beloved presence whose love, wisdom, creativity, and strength will continue to live on through the generations. Her hands may have spent a lifetime creating beautiful garments, but perhaps her greatest creation was the love and memories she stitched into the lives of her family.

Gloria’s life was a testament to perseverance, faith, talent, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain in every family story, every recipe, every handmade creation, every prayer, and in the hearts of the many people she touched throughout her life.

Rest peacefully, Lola. Your work here is finished, your love remains, and your legacy lives on through the generations you helped shape.
