James R
Harpool
Dec 9, 1943 — Jul 25, 2026
Bowling Green, KY
James R. Harpool, lovingly known as Jimmy, 82, passed away on July 25, 2026. Born on December 9, 1943, James lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady work, and deep devotion to the people and simple joys that meant the most to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Craig Lee Harpool; his beloved wife, Joyce Ann Harpool; his sister, Martha Ann Harpool Davis; his brothers, Harold Harpool; and his daughters, Paula Martin and Anita Hopkins. Though he endured great loss in his lifetime, Jimmy carried on with resilience and a heart that remained open to those around him.
Jimmy is survived by his loving daughter, Rhonda Gadberry and her husband, Luke (Jimmy's fishing buddy); his brothers, William Jewell and Wendell Martin and wife, Brenda; along with 14 cherished grandchildren who were a lasting source of pride and joy in his life. He also leaves behind a special friend, Joe Lavonne Ewing, whose companionship brought comfort and friendship through the years, along with several nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of High Street High School, Jimmy was a member of the High Street Mustangs basketball team, where he was coached by his uncle, F.O. Moxley; a time in his life he remembered fondly. He dedicated many years of hard work to his position in laundry services at Signature Healthcare, where he was known for his reliability and work ethic.
Outside of work, Jimmy found happiness in life’s quieter pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, painting houses, and cheering on his favorite teams, especially UK Basketball and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Whether casting a line into still waters or watching a game, he appreciated the simple rhythms that made life meaningful.
Jimmy will be remembered for his perseverance, his loyalty to family, and the steady presence he offered to those who knew him. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the family he leaves behind.
