Jerry Carr Traylor, 83, passed away on July 11, 2025, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Born on September 30, 1941, in Bristow County, Kentucky, Jerry led a life marked by dedication to education, public service, and the law.

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Traylor. He is also survived by his children, Jimmy Stahl and Chad Stahl; and by his two children from his first marriage to the late Joan Traylor-Doug Traylor and Michelle Pickett. and his 9 grandchildren, Ashleigh, Peter, Hayley, Harrison, Hudson, Hope, Sam, Katie and Clay who loving referred to him as "Papa." Jerry is predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Belma Traylor.

He began his academic journey with distinction, entering the Western Kentucky State High School training program as an honor student in his sophomore year and graduating in 1959. Jerry continued his studies at Western Kentucky University on an ROTC scholarship, where he earned a B.A. in history and political science in 1963. During his time at Western, he was recognized for both academic excellence and leadership. He served four years in ROTC, receiving the Superior Cadet Award, and held positions as President of the Congress Debating Club and Student Council. He was also appointed to the Student Advisory Council to the President. Jerry pursued his legal education at the University of Kentucky College of Law, earning his J.D. in 1966. While studying law, he worked as a research assistant with the Legislative Research Commission in Frankfort in 1964. In 1966, Jerry joined the faculty of Western Kentucky University's Department of Sociology. The following year, he entered active duty with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG). His military service included a tour in Vietnam, where he was appointed a military judge in 1970 and served as brigade judge advocate in Long Binh. He later served as a procurement and contracting officer before resigning his commission. Returning to civilian life, Jerry practiced civil and criminal law for several decades, demonstrating unwavering commitment to justice and public service. Visitation at 11am at Cone Funeral Home. Celebration of Life 12pm at Cone Funeral Home, with military honors to follow at Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens in Bowling Green, Kentucky
