Joann Smith Pearson passed away peacefully at the age of 81. She was born February 14, 1945, and entered her heavenly home on May 11, 2026, by the way of TWA. That is “traveling with angels” for non-nursing folks.
Her husband BJ preceded her in reaching their new mansion in the sky. She was also preceded in death by her parents, N.H. “Pete” Smith and Mary Dee Walden Smith, her infant brother Stanley Smith, and her daughter Tami Jo Pearson. She is survived by a son, Smith Pearson(Tracy) of Bowling Green and two grandchildren Drew Pearson and Lauren Sadler(Riley).
Joann was born in North Carolina. When her father was discharged from the service they returned home to Booneville, Mississippi, which she considered her roots. She spent time every summer till she was 16 with her grandparents. A lot of her philosophy of life was learned through them. She always tried to be a southern lady from southern cooking to a love everyone attitude. She believed there was no difference in any of us as we are all God’s children.
She obtained her nursing degree in 1984 and worked the majority of her life in that field helping others. Her goal was to make a difference in someone’s life every day. And that she hopes she did! From visiting to sharing meals, she took great care to meet people’s needs.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and her heart was filled with the love of Our Lord. Without the Lord’s strength she believed there were times she couldn’t have carried on. And, Dear Lord, thank you for giving her such a big heart.
Joann chose cremation and will be buried along side her husband and daughter at a private graveside service at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Franklin Kentucky. The family would like to thank all her friends and caregivers who helped her get through some physical challenges she had later in life. She was truly blessed in that regard.
