John W. Bruce, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 27, 2025, at The Medical Center of Bowling Green, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Born on November 23, 1937, in Terrytown, New York, he graduated from Irvington High School in 1952, embarking on a journey that would see him touch the lives of many.

In 1960, John began a distinguished career with General Motors at the Corvette Assembly Plant in St. Louis, Missouri. For 32 years, he dedicated himself to the company, culminating his career as a General Foreman and supervisor. His commitment to excellence and leadership in the workplace earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

John's service to his country included time in the US Army, where he served as a tank gunner stationed in Bad Tolz, Germany, achieving the rank of Sergeant. This experience shaped him into the devoted man he became, instilling values of commitment and perseverance.

Throughout his life, John was known for his friendly demeanor and love for meeting new people. He never met a stranger, forging friendships that enriched his life. His enthusiasm for life was evident in his many hobbies and interests. An avid fly fisherman and car enthusiast, John found joy in drag racing with his treasured 1985 Buick Grand National at Beech Bend Raceway. His passion for cars was not only his own but was also lovingly passed on to his children, creating cherished memories at the racetrack.

Above all, John's proudest accomplishment was his enduring marriage to Caroline Cervenka, whom he wed on September 14, 1963. Together, they shared 62 beautiful years, filled with love, laughter, and happiness. He is also survived by his children, Donald Bruce (Delenna), Joseph Bruce, and Kevin Bruce (Donna), who will carry forward his legacy of love and connection. John was a devoted grandfather to his three grandsons, Jacob Bruce (Marissa), Hunter Bruce (Jordan), and Gavin Bruce, with whom he enjoyed sharing his passions and creating lasting memories.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Gavin and Eleanor Bruce. The memory of John W. Bruce will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of being part of his life.
