With heavy hearts, we share the peaceful passing of Judith Hazel Fox (Austin) on May 11, 2026, at age 86. Judy was the daughter of Roy Jackson Austin and Norma Beard Carter, born in West Palm Beach, FL on May 25, 1939. "Judy" shared 57 years of marriage with her late husband, Dewey Edward Fox of Morganton, NC. Judy was a beloved mother, daughter, and grandmother who carved out life's journey guided by her love and unselfish actions for family and friends.

Judy began her journey as a young military spouse which catapulted her across the globe with her husband's oversea assignments while raising her four children. Upon settling in North Carolina for retirement, she worked for Sara Lee Corporation for many years with recognition while continuing to spend her life dedicated to caring for her family and grandchildren.

Judy's gift was making everyone feel special and radiating genuine care and kindness in her day-to-day life. Upon relocating to Bowling Green in 2012 following the death of her husband, she enjoyed friendships within her Massey Springs Retirement Community and her Silver Sneaker cohorts. Known to be an avid book reader and perpetual seeker of knowledge, Judy was always eager to converse about history, culture, and politics.

Her most cherished hobbies were family gatherings, traveling, hunting for bargains and flea markets, She would freely admit to the tiny obsession of collecting McCoy pottery and adored Owls as evidenced by the collection of her most prized creature companion.

Carrying on the eternal memory of Judy are her daughters, Pamela Favor and Linda Jones, and her sons, Brian Fox and wife Candace, and Shane Fox. Surviving families include a sibling, Nick Carter and wife Sandi, and 19 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren residing throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.

Judy will be laid to rest with her husband in a private family ceremony at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
