Judith Rue

Judith “Judy” Rue, 79, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that sustained her throughout her life.

Judy was born on April 6, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Don and Helen Callaway. She grew up on the west side of Indianapolis and attended Washington High School, where she formed many friendships and memories.

Judy was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She began her career at the Chevrolet plant in Indianapolis before transferring to the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She grew to love Kentucky deeply and often spoke of its natural beauty and the joy she found there. Upon retiring, she would frequently set up at the flea market where she was known as “granny” and formed many friendships.

Above all else, Judy treasured her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with those she loved. She was known for her quick wit, sassiness, infectious laughter, and the ability to bring joy to any gathering. Whether she was sharing stories, enjoying a game of Skip-Bo, or fishing, Judy embraced life with enthusiasm and a warm heart.

Judy is survived by her daughter, JoAnne Weigel; her grandchildren, Jaron Weigel, Addison Lewis, Raleigh Lewis, Josh Rue, Rhianna Rue, and Jannon Rue; her great grandchildren, Clara Weigel, Jaeleigh Rue, Cae'ella Johnson, Addyson Rue, Brayden Gearlds, Remington Rue, Beckett Crowe, Keilee Rue; her sisters, Donna Lyons, Shirley Snider, and Pam Serpico; and her sister-in-law, Lana Callaway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Callaway; her beloved son, David Rue; and her siblings, Stanley Callaway, Sandy Tyler, and Joyce Pollett.

Judy’s love for Jesus was evident to everyone who knew her. Her faith was the foundation of her life and remained strong until her final days. She faced life’s challenges with grace, hope, and unwavering trust in her Savior. Those who loved her find comfort knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.

Judy will be remembered for her devotion to family, her vibrant spirit, her laughter, and the love she freely shared with all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will miss her dearly and cherish her memory forever.

A celebration of life for Judy will be held on Sunday, July 5 at the KOA Convention Center in Bowling Green, KY, beginning at 3:00 PM. In honor of Judy's love for fishing, we invite you to bring your fishing pole and try to catch a big one!
