Katherine Barrow

d. October 29, 2024

Katherine F. (Ballard) Barrow passed away Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and her sisters. Born March 20, 1947 in Upstate NY she was the middle child of Arthur and Uadia Ballard's nine children. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and two older brothers (Bob and Jerry Ballard). Katherine was raised in the village of Whitney Point, NY where she often returned to be with family. As an adult she was a temporary resident of Georgia, Florida and Illinois before settling in Scottsville, KY in 2000 where she worked and retired from Dollar General DC.

Katherine is survived by her four sisters: Terri Burlingame, Nancy Bledsoe, Barbara (and Dick) James and Joan (and Al) Keller as well as two brothers Paul (and Sherri) Ballard and David (and Joyce) Ballard. She leaves her legacy to her two children: Gordon (and Angie) Teeter of Scottsville and Brenda (and Carl) Swarts of Scottsville. She was the grandmother to Caitlyn Kinslow, Cody Teeter, Catherine Cherry, Genevieve Harper, Zachariah Swarts, Tyler Swarts, all of Scottsville, Riley Chappell and Casey Alexander Chappell, of Louisville. She was also a great-grandmother to nine children.

Katherine was a mighty woman with a sharp wit. In her heyday she enjoyed going out and dancing with friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling and her horses as well as her loyal Cavalier spaniels that were there with her through many trials and tribulations. She was a Christian and when her body would let her she would attend church with her family. Her laughter and smile will be missed. All that loved her rejoice that she is free from the pain she struggled with daily.

Her family was with her the days before and at the time of her passing and are not intending to have any services at this time. A celebration of life may be scheduled in the future when family can attend.
