Lucille Shields, lovingly known to many as a dedicated Nurse and United States Air Force veteran, has peacefully passed away at the age of 91. Lucille born on June 29, 1932, in Miller City, Ohio to the late Ben and Elizabeth Shields (Schroeder) Riepenhoff. She passed away on June 25, 2024, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
In her lifetime, Lucille served her country with honor in the United States Air Force, embodying qualities of compassion and service that she later carried into her nursing profession. Her dedication to caring for others extended beyond the battlefield and hospital walls, touching the lives of many with comfort and healing.
Outside of her professional life, Lucille found joy in simple pleasures like sewing and gardening. Her creative spirit thrived as she stitched together fabrics and tended to blooming flowers, leaving a colorful mark on those around her.
Lucille is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bobby Ty Shields. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Clarence (Esther) Riepenhoff, Norma (Amos) Recker, Mary (Arnold) Nartker, Clara (Berkey) Schroth, Ruth (Joe) Smith, Eleanor Zwyer, Len Riepenhoff, and Jim Riepenhoff.
Lucille will be deeply missed by her surviving loved ones. She leaves behind Randy Shields of Bowling Green; Sam (Julia) Shields of Sand Point, ID; Joanne (Paul) Nugent of Cincinnati, OH; Bobby Shields of Cincinnati, OH; four granddaughters: Claire (Corey) Ketchem, Molly Nugent, Emily Shields, and Olivia Shields; one great granddaughter: Caroline Ketchem; one sibling: Rita (Herman) Schmenk; as well as a brother-in-law Bob Zwyer and sister-in-law Norma Riepenhoff, and Jane Riepenhoff.
A Funeral Service to honor Lucille's life will be held on July 26, 2024.
Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday 26, 2024 at Holy Spirit Church, Bowling Green, KY.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Rd, Bowling Green, KY 42104.
The service will be a time for family and friends to come together in remembrance and celebration of a remarkable woman whose kindness touched countless lives. May she rest in peace.
