Margaret Marie Forbis

Margaret “Marie” Coles Thomas Forbis, was born July 31, 1943, and passed February 22, 2024, at her residence with her family in Russellville (Logan County) Kentucky.

Marie graduated High School at Chandlers Chapel.  She was a factory worker for over 40 years.   18 years was spent at Odom (Tennessee Pride) Sausage.  She was also employed at Auburn Hosiery Mill, Emerson Elec and Rockwell Mfg. Marie spent her spare time being a faithful housewife and mother as well as helping in the other business ventures of her family. Gardening was her 2nd passion.

Marie was a regular attendee early in life at Plainview Baptist Church and later in life attended New Vision Baptist and Stokes Chapel Baptist Church.

Marie was proceeded in death by her parents, Sam and Alvie (Young) Coles. Her husband Alvie “Al” Edward Forbis.   Her brother, John Wilbur Coles of Russellville, KY and one daughter Lisa Darlene Thomas.  Also proceeded in death by 2 stepchildren Mark Forbis and Jamie Forbis.

Marie is survived by One Daughter Della Marie (Larry) Fox of Russellville, KY, one Foster Child Tommy (Leeshell) Bogle of Russellville, KY and 4 stepchildren, Susie (Sammy) Gaines of Auburn, KY, Joan (Doug) Woodson of Franklin, KY, Susie (Wayne) Norman of Auburn, KY, and Sheila (Bobby) Minton of Munfordville, KY. 

Marie is also survived by two grandchildren:  Ashley Marie (Steven) Coleman and children of Russellville KY and Jacob “Hunter” (James) Hampton and children of Dexter, MO.  As well as many other grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Marie was “MeMaw” to so many others in her community showing her love and care for human life.

Graveside service will be officiated at 11 AM on March 2, 2024, by Brother Brian Crowder at Maple Grove Cemetery in Russellville, KY.   Marie’s Celebration of Life with her immediate family to follow.
