Mary Jane dedicated her professional life to supporting her family and nurturing her entrepreneurial spirit. She worked alongside her husband in their family cleaning business across California and Oregon. Additionally, she was employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass Bottling Company in Portland, Oregon, where she honed her strong work ethic and commitment to her responsibilities. Driven by her creative passions, she founded a small business named Memory Shades, where she enchanted others with her exquisite designs of Victorian lamp shades. Mary Jane’s talents were not limited to artistry alone; she also played a role in managing a Tyson chicken farm in Arkansas.
Throughout her life, Mary Jane found joy in the simple pleasures of family and hobbies. A gifted seamstress, she skillfully crafted dolls, clothing, and crochet pieces that brought smiles to those who received them. Her love for antique collecting and reading enriched her life, filling her home with stories from the past and the beauty of craftsmanship. Family vacations at the beach were cherished memories she created with her children, and she cherished the moments spent traveling abroad with her spouse.
Above all, Mary Jane devoted herself to her children and grandchildren, loving them fiercely. She is survived by her son, Michael Spitzer, and her daughter, Cheryl (Chris) Taylor, along with her step-daughter, Starla Bond. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Christina (Ryan) Veirs, Tina (Zach) Kowalski, Stephanie (Travis) Jenkins, Kevin Taylor, Melanie Spitzer, Jennifer Spitzer, and Tara (Casey) McCabe. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband to whom she had been married to for 34 years, Aubrey Brose Bond, and her former husband, JC Spitzer, whom she was married to for 37 years. She was the beloved daughter of Ollie May Phipps and Alex Homer Phipps, and her deceased children, Steven, Gregory, Jay, and Kevin. Additionally, she is survived by the memory of her seven siblings and her cherished great-grandchild, Shelby Jenkins.
