*"Melissa “Missy” Ann (Barnes) Bloodworth July 3, 1981 – August 3, 2025
Melissa Ann Bloodworth, affectionately known as Missy or Mel, passed away on August 3, 2025, at the age of 44. Born on July 3, 1981, in Little Falls, NY, Melissa grew up surrounded by family, laughter, and love. She later made her home in Russellville, Kentucky, after spending much of her adult life in Florida.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, John Bloodworth; her devoted father, Timothy Allen Barnes, and his wife Melissa Barnes; and her cherished children, Gage Tyler Turner (wife Natasha), Athena Elizabeth Harmon (fiancé Kyle Anderson), and Alexis Mae Turner. She was a proud grandmother to Artemis Rae Anderson, who brought her immense joy.
She will also be deeply missed by her siblings, Timothy Barnes (wife Sarah), Stephanie Sanchez, Christopher Barnes, Chelsea Garnsey (husband Andrew), and Shania Barnes, as well as her many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Melissa was predeceased by her beloved mother, Cynthia Rae Summersill Gay, and her grandparents, Reginald and Lillian Barnes and Blanche and Donald Summersill. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Melissa’s heart was as big as her smile. She was happiest cooking new recipes, laughing with her family, or listening to her favorite music—whether it was country or early ’90s alternative. A lifelong NASCAR fan, she especially treasured her years working at the Daytona 500 Speedway. She loved her cats, her true crime shows, and above all, the simple joy of being surrounded by those she loved.
To know Melissa was to love her. She was the kind of person who gave freely of herself, always ready to support and uplift her family and friends. Her warmth, humor, and generosity touched every life she encountered.
