Phillip Eugene
Shelton Jr
January 24, 1960 – May 2, 2026
Phillip E. Shelton, Jr., 66, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2026, after living a full and busy life. He was born January 24, 1960, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, to Phillip Eugene Shelton, Sr. and Lillian Burch Shelton.
Phillip dedicated his career to education and served for many years as a music director. He later worked with the City of Bowling Green Golf Courses and FedEx before retirement. Those who knew him will remember him most for the kind of man he was. He never sat still—whether he was working in the yard, tackling a project, fixing something, or helping someone in need, he was always busy. If you were in a bind, you could count on him to show up.
Phillip loved to travel, golf with his buddies, and spend time at the lake and the beach every chance he got. He had a quick wit and prided himself on his one-liners, never missing a chance to get a laugh. Above all, he treasured time with his family. The stories could go on and on, but what they all share is simple: he lived every single day to the fullest.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Eugene Shelton, Sr. and Lillian Burch Shelton.
He is survived by his life partner, Rolanda Garrison; his sons, Brandon Shelton (April) and Aaron Shelton (Alondra); his daughters, Rhanda Roach (Vernon), Keylee Garrison (Kealan), and Brenna Garrison, whom he loved and helped raise as his own; his brother, Mark Shelton (Maribeth); his nephews, Zachary Shelton (Julie) and Tyler Shelton (Tabatha); his special aunt, Sara Lear; and several nieces and nephews.
He was especially proud of his grandchildren—Alexis Shelton, Addison Shelton, Andrew Shelton, Saylor Garrison, and Whitley Roach—who affectionately knew him as "Poppy." He never failed to let them know just how important they were to him.
Phillip leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and laughter, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11th from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. A private service will be held for family.
