Ray Isaac

Ray Arthur Isaac, 79, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022, surrounded by his family. He grew up in Union County, Indiana, and worked in Richmond and Connersville for many years. Ray knew how to tell a good story. Whether he was telling a story to his grandchildren or to a complete stranger, he always used storytelling as a way of connecting. The old saying, “he never met a stranger”, definitely applied to him. He viewed every person he met as someone he could learn from. He also loved making people laugh. His “dad jokes” will be dearly missed and always remembered. In his children and grandchildren, he instilled a love of music, sports, lifelong learning, and a heartfelt desire for a just-world. Ray was a voracious reader and an avid gardener, coin collector, and passionate outdoorsman. He enjoyed all sorts of music – from hip-hop, blues, and traditional jazz to bagpipes and classical. When he watched the Super Bowl this year his comment about the halftime show was, “I like Snoop Dogg. ” An outstanding high school athlete himself, he loved sports, especially any that involved family members. He was survived by his beloved wife Caren Isaac, and their children, Carlee Miller (Matt), and Ella Isaac, and his four children with his first wife Bernice (Powell) Isaac, Quest Lakes (Theo McCormick), Dan Isaac, Kerry Isaac-Rossow (Jim), and Jessica Sanford (Ted). His siblings are Don Isaac, Mary Ann Collyer, and Nina Shaw. He was a proud grandparent to Sarah Peters (Matt), Zephyr Perkins, Mylo McCormick (Allison Rasmussen) Sam Rossow, Gus Rossow, Kitty Rossow, Meg Rossow, Logan Sanford (Izzy), Cameron Sanford, and Hattie Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Athleen (Davis) Isaac. The family will hold a celebration of life in his honor on April 16th, 2-6 p. m. at Simply on Salem, 1003 South Salem Road, Liberty, Indiana. Wildly exaggerated stories welcome. Memorial donations can be made to the International Center of Bowling Green, Kentucky or to Whitewater Memorial State Park where he made countless memories with his children and where he married Caren (Girton) Isaac. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Ln) with arrangements.
