Retired Sergeant Major Richard Clemons Jr., affectionately known as Dick, passed away on April 22, 2025, at his residence. Born on December 9, 1934, Dick lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and service. He was a highly decorated member of the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major and becoming not only a commendable soldier but also a respected figure in his community.
Dick's contributions extended far beyond his military service; he was deeply involved in various community activities and initiatives, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact. His legacy serves as a testament to a life well-lived, inspiring many who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his son, Richard Francis Clemons III, and his cherished grandchildren, Jessica Merfled, Trenton Williams, and Chris Williams. They will carry forward his rich legacy, filled with love and memories.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Francis Clemons Sr., mother, Olive Bartell, wife, Maggie Clemons, and daughter, Tina Hall. The loss of these family members profoundly shaped his life, instilling in him the values of love, perseverance, and dedication to family that he so elegantly embodied.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on May 14, 2025, at Oakland Baptist Church, located at 410 Church St, Oakland, KY 42159. Friends and family are invited to gather from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM to remember and celebrate the extraordinary life of Richard Clemons Jr.
In his passing, we remember a man who dedicated his life to his country and community, leaving behind an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
