Robert Fleming, Sr.

July 22, 1960 — July 19, 2022

Robert Samuel Fleming was born to Samuel Roger and Mary Jane Fleming on July 22, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the youngest of six wonderful children, born to this union. Robert passed away suddenly on July 19, 2022, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was a born-again Christian who accepted Christ as his Savior many years ago. In his early years, Robert attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Manhattan, Kansas. Several years later, his mother remarried Mr. Lorett Allen. His younger brothers Ricky and Tony were added to this happy family. In 1968, Mary Jane and Lorett relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where Robert attended Hickey Elementary School and later, Sumner High School. His interest in music became apparent in his pre-teen years along with his brother Marc-Victor. The first instrument he played was the lead guitar. He loved different kinds of music including Light Rock, R&B/Funk and Gospel. Robert’s passion for music continued to evolve as he transitioned to bass guitar. His favorite group, Cameo, entered the music charts in the mid-1970’s with an unmistakable sound he loved. In the summer of 1977, Robert moved to California where he lived with his paternal Grandmother Jean (Bryant) Allen and his father, who remarried and added two sisters to the family, Traci and Samantha. Robert was an average student at Muir High School in Pasadena, California. Always a sports enthusiast – he was a member of the Mustangs football team. He had a special gift that enabled him to talk his way into and out of almost any situation. His family was amazed and referred to this as Robert’s unique gift of “verbal rappability”! He enlisted in the army when he was nineteen years old. His first daughter, Brittany, was born in April of 1980. Later, while stationed in Germany, Robert was married and from this union two sons were born, Robert II and Ryan. After Robert left the service, he developed an interest in cooking professionally and worked in various restaurants, including some high-end establishments in Beverly Hills, CA. Later he moved to Houston, Texas for a short time before returning to California where his three youngest children, Raevin, Riley and Rolando were born. In his later years, Robert became a professional long-haul truck driver. He dover coast to coast for over twenty years and visited friends and family all over the country while on the road. His brothers, sisters, children, and extended family would look forward to seeing him whenever he passed through town. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Tony A. Fleming, his oldest sister Debhora K. Fleming, and his son Steven Fleming. He is survived by his daughters, Brittany R. Gilford (Jernaro) of Vineyard, UT, Raevin T. Fleming (Mikey) of Chatsworth, CA, Hazel Savage of Great Britain; and his four sons, Robert Fleming II (Robin) of Bowling Green, KY, Ryan V. Fleming (Patience) of Bowling Green, KY, Riley A. Fleming of Los Angeles, CA, and Rolando M. Fleming of Beaumont, CA. Fleming (Yvette) of Atlanta, GA, Samantha J. Fleming of Kokomo, IN, and Traci L. Fleming of McMinnville, OR.
