Rodney Albert Hounshell II

Rodney Albert Hounshell II, 36, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1989, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Rodney was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and provider who dedicated himself to the people he loved most. He was known for his determination, creativity, and love for his family. His unexpected passing leaves a profound emptiness in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Rodney was the beloved husband of Kimberly Shaeanne “Shae” Frost. The two were married on May 21, 2011, in West Union, Ohio, and shared 15 years of marriage together. Shae was not only his wife, but his partner and best friend. Rodney cherished the time they spent together and treasured the life they built as a family.

He was a proud and loving father to Elena Hounshell and Ayden Hounshell. Some of Rodney’s happiest moments were spent playing with his children, sharing his interests with them, and simply being present for the everyday moments of their lives. His love for his children was evident in everything he did, and being their father was one of his greatest joys.

Rodney was the son of Mary Rivera Hounshell and Rodney Albert Hounshell, who survive him. He is also survived by his siblings, Nick Thornshell, Daniel Hounshell, Cassidy Thornshell, Elizabeth Frost, Andy Ness, AJ Frost, and Katie Frost.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lidia Rivera and Peter Rivera, and Katherine Boles and Thomas William.

Rodney was a man of accomplishment and determination. He earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and worked as an Inventory Control Coordinator. He also achieved an incredible accomplishment as a National Champion in Taekwondo, demonstrating the discipline, perseverance, and dedication that characterized so much of his life.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Rodney was a creative soul with a wide range of interests. He enjoyed video games, writing, video game design, and graphic novels. He loved bringing his imagination to life and exploring the world created through storytelling and games. Above all, however, Rodney loved spending time with his family. Whether he was playing with his children or enjoying quiet time with his wife, Shae, those moments meant the most to him.

Rodney will be remembered not simply for what he accomplished, but for the roles he filled in the lives of those around him: a loving husband, a devoted father, a dependable provider, a cherished son, and a beloved brother. His life touched many people, and his memory will continue through his family, his children, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

Though his time with us was far too short, Rodney leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, creativity, and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
