Silas Pennington, Sr.

Silas Milton Pennington, Sr. , 85, of Bowling Green, KY, was born on September 24, 1936, in Oakland, KY, and died on January 26, 2022, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. Besides his parents, Silas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce Pennington. Mr. Pennington is survived by their four children, Joyce Marie Russell (Bill), Debbie Abu-Nasser (Sam), Buck Pennington (Tammy), and Richard Pennington (Kristin). In addition to his children, Silas is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends who consider him family. Silas Pennington was a man of great faith who loved the Lord and his church family, Berea Christian Church. He was a long time elder and board member and always finding ways to serve the church as well as White Mills Christian Camp. Silas loved and was loved by his family. The Master Mechanic was a Jack-of-all-trades and Master-of-all and was constantly fixing things for anyone who asked. A multi-talented man, Silas was also an excellent whittler, creative clock maker, canner of tomatoes, jellies, and jams, and cook (which was a good thing since he loved to eat). He will be missed greatly. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) with arrangements. The services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Berea Christian Church, 2525 Gotts Hydro Rd S, Oakland, KY. The visitation is from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. , and the Funeral Service is at 2 p. m. , with the burial to follow in the Berea Christian Church Cemetery.
