Steve Garrett

January 23, 1957 — July 5, 2022

Patrick Steven (Steve) Garrett, age 65, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Steve was born in Glasgow, KY to the late Paul and Mary Garrett on January 23, 1957. He was raised in Summer Shade, KY along with his 7 siblings. He graduated from Metcalfe County High School and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Sandy, on February 18, 1978. They resided in Edmonton, KY for many years where they raised their daughter, Courtney. In more recent years, they lived in Bowling Green, KY to be close to their grandchildren, Tinsley and Max. At a young age, it was apparent that Steve had an eye for detail and a God-given artistic ability. Growing up, he loved spending time in his dad’s garage, learning to paint cars and do body work. At the age of 14, he would paint the Coca-Cola logo on the company trucks, by free hand. Following high school, he began working as a manager at the local Jr Foods. This led to a future career as a “Coke Man”. At the age of 23, he began working for The Coca-Cola Company at Clarks Distributing where he went on to manage multiple divisions of the company over the next 26 years. In more recent years, he worked on various projects that allowed him to create and design and ultimately followed his life-long passion for painting, creating several original pieces of art. Perhaps the most important moment in his life happened one evening at the age of 15. Steve attended a country church in Tompkinsville, KY where he came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He later became a member of Edmonton Worship Center, where he served as a deacon for several years. In more recent years, he attended and was a member of Crossland Community Church in Bowling Green, KY. Steve was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who will be greatly missed. He rarely met a stranger and loved a good conversation. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Mike Garrett, Robby Garrett and Tony Garrett. Steve is survived by his wife, Sandy Garrett; his daughter, Courtney Price (Chris) and 2 grandchildren, Tinsley and Max Price. Other survivors include his siblings: Kenny Garrett (Sheryl), Mark Garrett (Lisa), Marketta Acree and Rendy Perkins (Ronnie Joe); his sister in law, Bonnie Richie (Dale) and nieces and nephews: Brandy Acree, Christy Grider, Jodi Dubree, Kena Flanary, Mahogany Staples, McShane Garrett, Mica Dubree, Molly Caswell, Robby Acree, Sarah Morgan, Travis Garrett and Trigg Perkins, along with several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 7:00 pm at Cone Funeral Home in Bowling Green, KY. Visitation with Steve's family will begin at 2:00 pm and continue until time of service.
