Listen to Obituary

Wendell Dean Williams, 84, passed away Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at Greenview Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born March 7, 1941 at Scottsville Hospital to Albert and Rebecca (Sledge) Williams. He grew up on the family dairy farm and graduated from Allen County High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school. He worked for Western Kentucky University before retiring after 30 years of service.

He was married to Anna Faye Williams for 54 years until her death in 2023. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Sarah King, Shellie Lowery, and Anna Mae Charlton and a brother, Delbert Williams.

Wendell is survived by his daughter Amanda Williams and her husband Stephen Hunter of Chicago. He is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Williams of Scottsville and many nieces and nephews.

Wendell loved to grow vegetables, and his beautiful yard that he tended with his wife was his pride and joy. He was a kind and gentle man who would help anyone who needed help taking care of their home, particularly the elderly. He never met a rescue dog (and over the years there were many!) who didn’t fall in love with him immediately. He raised a daughter (who he always referred to as “his little girl” even when she was inches taller than him) to appreciate books and education, but who can also use any tool in the garage. He loved to keep up with current events and until the end had strong, well-informed opinions about what was going on in this country.

Wendell did not want a funeral and was cremated at his request. He will be interred at Fairview Cemetery with his wife at a future date. Cone Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy can be made by donation to the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society (bgshelterpets.com) or the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org)
