Willard Abner Hanes, age 89 of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on May 23rd, 2026.
He was born on July 25, 1936 in Macon County, Tennessee. He married Becky Ann Richardson in 1963.
Willard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was in the United States Army from 1952-1962. Following serving in the Army, he worked for Borders Dairy; Browns Dairy; Flavorieh Dairy; Purity Dairy, delivering dairy products all over Kentucky. In the summer while not gardening, he coached softball to all ages of girls and then became an umpire after his girls were older, traveling for tournaments for years. He loved working with his hands, building different things during retirement. He and his wife worked many years at FleaLand. Willard was a wonderful Christian man and enjoyed going to or watching church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sonja Moore and Tanyika Wan (husband Darrin), 6 grandchildren, Amanda Walden (Phil), Andrea Roberts (Bruce), Allison Campbell (Nick), Cameron Gullion (Alex), Alex Wan (Katie), and Marcus Wan, and 13 great-grandchildren. He also had two sisters, Frances Hammonds (Ernest) of Henderson, KY, and Polly Hatler of Alvaton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Becky, his parents, Verlin and Lena Earline Hanes, and his infant brother, Carol.
Visitation will be held at Cone Funeral Home on June 3rd, 2026 from 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM, with the funeral beginning at 2:00 PM. Darrin Wan will be officiating, and cremation will follow.
