Mr. William “Poke” Neal Howard, age 74 of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements.
Poke’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will hold a private service in celebration of his life.
Poke was born July 11, 1949, in Woodburn, KY to the late James Elmer Howard Sr., and the late Mary Elizabeth Lightfoot. He is also preceded in death by a brother, James Elmer Howard, Jr., and a granddaughter, Essence Holman.
He is survived by his daughter, Lerissa Williams of Bowling Green, KY; son, Jeremy Bunton of Bowling Green, KY; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Boards of Russellville, KY and Robert “Mumbles” Howard (Gildean) of Bowling Green, KY. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Poke served in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam. He loved his grandchildren dearly as his world revolved around them. William loved to fish, build and race cars and attempt to hunt from time to time. He loved to come home, kick back on the porch and enjoy a cold beer and light a cigarette.
