William "Bill" J. O'Toole, 95, of Richardsville, died on June 15, 2025 at the Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Bill was born in 1929 during the Great Depression. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, teaching ballistics. Bill received a full scholarship from St. Mary's of the Mount in Pittsburg to Duquesne University. He was 17 and did not use the scholarship but went to work for United States Steel Corporation. He worked various jobs and as his potential was recognized he became Manager of the Order Entry Department having a large part in the development of the computer systems used for order entry. He retired after 45 years but returned as a consultant for 10 more years.
In his spare time, Bill and Carolyn took lots of cruises, Bill was an avid reader, and loved to complete the New York Times crossword puzzle and work Sudoku.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Madelyn of Pittsburgh, a brother, Thomas of Pittsburgh, and a son, James of Iowa.
He leaves behind his wife Carolyn, of 46 years. Other survivors include a sister, Arlene of Pittsburgh, a daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren of Iowa, a daughter, Majorie, and a son, Michael of Pittsburgh, many nieces and nephews and great number of dear friends.
Arrangements are private with a Celebration of Life planned at the Richardsville Community Center, 1775 Richardsville Rd, Bowling Green, KY, 42101, on June 29th, at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
